| Q |
Can I change my major before classes start in the fall? |
| A |
You can change your major after June 2. You will need to
work with your academic advisor to make sure you are
prepared to enter an alternative program at the appropriate
time. You will typically need to stay in the program to which
you’ve been admitted for your first year of study. You will
mostly be taking general education requirements that will
keep you on track for most programs. There will be certain
prerequisite courses as well as a minimum GPA requirement
that will have to be met in order to transfer. You will also
need approval from your current college as well as the new
college. Contact the college office of your desired major for
requirements.

| Q |
I currently live out of state. When am I eligible for in-state
tuition? |
| A |
The parent’s domicile is used to determine residency. A
person whose parent(s) moves to Maryland may become a
resident at the beginning of the next term following the move.
If you are legally emancipated from your parents or
independent, you must reside in the state of Maryland for one
year for non-educational purposes before being eligible for in-
state tuition. See Maryland Residency Requirements.
